The Roach Alligator That Did Not Roar
Awhile back in 2006, I, Robb Russell, of The Wildlife Pro, LLC was doing tech work while employed by a licensed Pest control operator. I got most of my calls through a sales force and I pretty much had an idea of the type of job I normally get. One day I was sent out to a perfectly brand new home with no landscaping, in perfect move in condition in every respect.
The customer had a non-existent roach problem and I assured her not only I did all I could to prevent roaches but will come right out if she has a pest concern.
About two weeks later I get a very concerned call from her that one of them roaches is back in her house. She describes it as alligator like, staring at her and that she was afraid it was gonna eat her up.Obviously this “Roach Alligator” was anything but your average roach concern
When I arrived I seen this a green Anole, all 4 inches of it staring at her and herhiding off the floor up in a chair scared. I threw a towel on it , took it outside and released it. I explained to her that this was not a roach, not a alligator but a harmless Green Anole that at most eats any bugs in the vicinity of her home. I told her to think of them as her friend and God’s and Mother Natures way of sending her some help with little kind, harmeless, minature bug eating dragons
Over the next year I was able to teach her how to remove them and learn to respect them and today she knows that they are Anoles , that they are her friends and her protectors and that a roach looks a whole lot different.
I enjoy the outdoors , working with wildlife and educating others about them every chance I get . If you have concerns in North Central Florida call me.
